Cobalt Chrome Spotlight: Sarah Graham
Sculptural and tactile, the jewelry of Sarah Graham is inspired by the forms and textures of the natural world, from grasses and pebbles to corals and single-celled organisms.
Sculptural and tactile, the jewelry of Sarah Graham is inspired by the forms and textures of the natural world, from grasses and pebbles to corals and single-celled organisms. But, despite its organic feel, her work is also deceptively high-tech, with innovative materials and construction.
Her fingerprint collection, for example, uses in-store scanners, CAD models, and 3-D printing to create the feeling of casual wax impressions.
Graham’s signature is a velvety oxidized cobalt chrome alloy, which creates a matte-black foil for richly textured 18-karat gold. Each of her collections has a distinct inspiration, yet her unified aesthetic, characteristic palette of metals, and variety of textures encourage collectors to mix and match.
