Penny Preville taps into men’s jewelry with cufflink line
Designer Penny Preville is marking her expansion into men’s jewelry with the introduction of her 18-karat gold cufflink collection, “Rocks.”
Rocks, inspired by the gemstones Preville saw at the Tucson Gem Show in February, features 18-karat white and green gold cufflinks with faceted tanzanite, brown sapphire, black moonstone and blue topaz, as well as Australian opal cabochons.
Some cufflinks will feature “doublets,” which is a clear stone layered over an opaque one to give a “unique hue of color,” Preville said.
In addition, select cufflinks will be accented with white, black and cognac diamonds.
“When I do my personal appearances around the country, I meet and sell jewelry to men who are buying gifts for their wives and girlfriends. Very often, they ask me if I make men’s cufflinks, as they are looking for something special and unique for themselves,” Preville told National Jeweler. “With that in mind, my husband Jay and I were inspired by fabulous gemstones that we found at the Tucson Gem Show, that Jay thought would make great cufflinks.”
Prices in the Rocks collection range from $3,000 to $6,000. The line will launch with retailers in September.
