In the brief two years since its launch, YouTube has gone from a clearinghouse for random, offbeat videos to a bonified new media source arguably as influential in politics as it is in pop culture. (Who can forget George Allen's "Macaca" video that impacted the 2006 election? And who hasn't seen the more recent "Hillary 1984" video?)
YouTube has proven itself an invaluable medium for getting a message to large numbers of people, quickly and cheaply. In an interesting twist, victims of jewelry crime have taken to using the site to broadcast images of missing jewelry, possible suspects and information about rewards.
