Anyone else out there still struggling to recover from Las Vegas market week?
I must admit that despite the long hours and brutal heat, I find the Las Vegas shows among my favorites of the year. Of course I work longer, party harder and sleep less that week than any other during the year, but for some reason that is part of the appeal of the shows.
I love going out after a hard day pounding the show floors and watching people I have seen buttoned up in suits all year let their hair down for a few nights. Lure and Tao seemed to be the jewelry hotspots this year, with events at one or both bars almost every night.
As for the shows themselves, designers stepped it up with exciting new product, and the retailers I spoke with seemed to have come ready to buy it for their stores. On my flight back home, I heard more than one attendee call the show a success. I didn't hear much else though, as my hard week finally caught up with me and I got more sleep on the plane than I did on any one night in Vegas.
