Walmart Brings In-Home Delivery to Three Cities
Associates will use a smart lock to enter customers’ homes and deliver groceries directly into the fridge.

Bentonville, Ark.—Walmart announced the launch of its InHome Delivery program, rolling out the service to customers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Kansas City, in both Missouri and Kansas; and Vero Beach, Florida.
First announced this summer, InHome Delivery hand-delivers fresh groceries and other essentials directly to a customer’s fridge, in the kitchen or garage.
Walmart said it expects the service to reach around one million customers.
Interested customers in those cities can go to Inhome.Walmart.com to check if their address is eligible for the program. If so, customers can choose a delivery spot, either a fridge in the kitchen or one in the garage.
The smart lock needed to use the service is $49.95 and is installed free of charge. The associate delivering the groceries will use the smart device to unlock the door and enter wearing a camera, allowing the customer to watch the delivery remotely.
Customers can receive unlimited deliveries for $19.95 per month, including the first month free, but the minimum per order is $30.
The service can be paused or cancelled at any time.
Walmart said in a press release that it plans to expand the service to more customers in the coming months, but did not provide specifics about where the service will land next.
Amazon launched a similar service, Amazon Key, in Oct. 2017, giving customers the option to have packages delivered inside their homes, garages, or cars, using an app and a smart lock. Their start-up kit retails for $249.99.
