At any chance I had on a ferry or boat ride during childhood travels, I'd spend some time peering over the edge, hoping to spy a mermaid. I was sure they existed, and that if I looked hard enough, I'd see one (like the Care Bears I also looked for in the clouds on airplane trips).
Though my mermaid searches are long a thing of the past, Emily Blunt's ensemble at the 2008 BAFTAS (the British equivalent of the Oscars) resurrected a few fond memories.
I'm usually not one for head-to-toe sequins, but the gown's sea-green tint and body-skimming silhouette are too captivating to be ignored.
I also like that The Devil Wears Prada actress chose jewels in hues that contrast with her dress. The H. Stern "Moonlight" earrings in 18-karat Noble Gold with gemstones and the one-of-a-kind "Sunrise" bracelet featuring more than 200 carats of citrines in varying shades of yellow really warm up the look. No ice princess is she.
