A recent article in Women's Wear Daily reports the unwavering progression of luxury goods companies during these trying times.
Chanel opened its new fine-jewelry and watch boutique on New York City's Madison Avenue today. De Beers has plans to open 25 stores in 2008. Van Cleef and Arpels will be opening its 10th U.S. store in Naples, Fla., this month. Buglari has expanded the scope of its products and plans to open several U.S. stores. Cartier is opening a store in Sin City and boutiques in two Neiman Marcus department stores.
I can just imagine the soap opera writers giving the make-believe towns of Oak Dale or Pine Valley a new luxury retailer. Naturally, it would be run by the 10-year-old son of a man who was thrown off a cliff and reincarnated as his evil twin brother.
