Congrats to jewelry designer Philip Crangi, who won the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design at Monday night's Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards.
He triumphed over nominees Justin Giunta for Subversive jewelry and Joy Gryson who designs handbags and shoes. And what became of our leg-warmer-wearing Accessory Designer of the Year nominee Michael Kors? The five-time nominee suffered another Erica Kane moment.
Attendees of the event paid tribute to fashion pioneer Yves Saint Laurent, who passed away over the weekend. Ashley Olsen, who is launching a jewelry line with her sister Mary Kate, describes the icon as "…an artist who always surprised us. He used to say he wanted to be Matisse, but I think Matisse would have wanted to be him."
The Olsen Twins are also saluting jewelry designer and sculptor Robert Lee Morris who they have been working with on a collection of silver and brass dagger necklaces, knuckle rings and earrings. Named Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth and James, the collection is set to launch within the next few months.
