The Carat+ Jewelry Trade Show Is Postponed for 2019
The Antwerp event couldn’t drum up enough interest from exhibitors and visitors for its third edition slated for February.
Antwerp, Belgium—Jewelry trade show Carat+ will postpone its third annual event, originally scheduled to take place Feb. 10 to 12.
According to Idex, organizers Filip Van Laere and Dirk Blommaert said in a statement, “For the past two years, Easyfairs and the Carat+ team have been investing hard work, time and energy to create and develop a unique diamond-centered event in Antwerp. With the introduction of a number of new exhibitors, new concepts and a dedicated focus on attracting additional visitors, we were looking forward to the third edition of the event.
“However, being confronted with declining commitment of buyers and sellers as exhibitor or visitor, we concluded that it would be difficult to achieve the high-quality standards we impose on ourselves while meeting the expectations of our visitors and exhibitors for an event like Carat+.”
Carat+ debuted in 2017 and held its second jewelry trade show this year, introducing a gemstone area to the diamond-focused event.
Van Laere and Blommaert also said they would continue to work to improve the Carat+ format and hopefully resume the show in the future.
