Doug Hucker Retires From ICA
The colored gemstone industry leader is heading into retirement after four years as the association’s CEO.

Hucker, who has held the role since 2022, exhibited steady and strategic leadership at ICA through the post-COVID recovery period and ongoing global market challenges, the association said.
His tenure has been marked by a strong focus on “financial discipline, successful delivery of key industry congresses and events, and meaningful growth and improved engagement with ICA’s global membership,” ICA added.
“Doug has made a significant contribution to ICA during a pivotal time for our industry,” said ICA President Damien Cody.
“His experience, professionalism, and commitment have helped strengthen the association and position it well for the future. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and service.”
Hucker said it had been a privilege to serve the organization and its members.
“I am proud of what we have accomplished together during a period of significant change. These achievements reflect the collective effort of a committed board, dedicated members, and a passionate global community,” he said.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside such talented and driven individuals. I am confident the association will continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead.”
ICA said it hopes to announce details regarding new leadership soon.
Hucker’s career in the gem and jewelry industry spans several decades, defined by his commitment to advancing the colored gemstone sector.
He has held various leadership roles.
Before joining ICA, Hucker served as CEO of the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) for 24 years.
Prior to that, he served as president and partner of The Registry Ltd., a company that specialized in antique and estate jewelry.
Earlier in his career, he also held positions with the Gemological Institute of America.
He’s also served on the boards of many industry associations, including AGTA, the American Gem Society (AGS), the Jewelers Vigilance Committee, and CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, as well as supported the Jewelers’ Security Alliance, the Women’s Jewelry Association, and others.
In 2018, he won the Robert M. Shipley Award, AGS’s highest honor.
