Indiana Jeweler to Host Black Jewelry Designer Pop-Up
Robert Goodman Jewelers will hold a “Black Jewelry Designers and Makers” event on April 27.

The event will be held Sunday, April 27 from 12 to 4 p.m.
The designers in the pop-up will take over the store for that time period, with no sales being made by Robert Goodman Jewelers.
The space is being offered at no charge and no commission will be taken from the designers’ sales.
Owners Robert and Rose-Marie Goodman began hosting this event around five years ago, during the time of the George Floyd demonstrations and the founding of the Black in Jewelry Coalition.
Robert grew up in the industry, having spent more than 50 years in the jewelry business.
Looking back, he recalled the lack of diversity and inclusion he witnessed when attending trade shows in New York back in the day.
“When I was 25 years old and I didn’t see it and didn’t do anything about it, I was part of the systemic issue,” Robert said in an interview with National Jeweler.
In the present day, Robert is looking to address the problem head-on through his own business.
“We want to do everything we can to give BIPOC designers a platform,” he said.
He reached out to a local activist who had planned events for Black-owned businesses and asked for his help in organizing something similar.
At the first event, Robert was touched by the community that was created by the designers who attended. They were purchasing each other’s goods and encouraging customers to check out the other vendors.
The annual tradition has continued, with several designers signed up for this year’s event.
“It's not a matter of helping [people], it's a matter of creating opportunity,” said Robert.
As of press time, there were two spots remaining for interested designers. For more information, visit the jeweler’s website or send an email to bob@robertgoodmanjewelers.com.
