Bulova Archives Its Past, Plans Museum
The watch company continues to draw on its past for design inspiration as it works toward the opening of a brand museum early next year.

Basel, Switzerland--Bulova introduced the second watch in its Archive Series at Baselworld, as well as a new ladies’ collection that takes design cues from the brand’s first women’s watch.
The Archive Series sprung from a project Bulova undertook to archive the designs of its past and overall history.
The project will culminate in the opening of a museum dedicated to the brand. Slated for January 2018, the museum will be located on the 29th floor of the Empire State Building, where Bulova has its headquarters.
New to the Archive Series is the Chronograph C ($750 retail).
The Chronograph C is based on the watch that Bulova submitted to NASA in the “space race” to be considered as the official government-issued watch of the astronauts. (Bulova’s Chronograph C lost out to the Omega Speedmaster, which remains the watch in use by NASA to this day.)
The watch has a red, white and blue dial, thick coin-edge case details and is powered by a high-performance quartz chronograph movement. It comes in a special box that includes both a stainless steel mesh and a navy leather strap.
The Chronograph C is the second timepiece in Bulova’s Archive Series, following the Moon Watch chronograph.
Also new from Bulova are Curv watches for ladies and the all-new Rubaiyat collection, which is also for women.
The Rubaiyat is a throwback to the first ladies’ watch Bulova introduced in 1917 (the first full collection came in 1924.)
The new collection features a total of 12 watches, each with hand-set diamonds and the cabochon crown at 12 o’clock (as it was on the original, which was modeled after a pocket watch).
The watches are powered by a quartz movement and feature the hallmark Goddess of Time insignia on the back, a symbol the brand used for years.
The Rubaiyat collection watches are available in stainless steel and yellow or rose gold tone with bracelets or leather straps, and prices start at $550 retail.
The Curv Collection debuted with men’s watches only at Baselworld last year, with Bulova introducing it as the world’s first curved chronograph.
This year, Bulova is introducing women’s Curv watches, starting with three styles all featuring three-hand multi-function and exhibition case backs, and set with 26 diamonds.
The women’s Curv watches retail for $995.
