Tiffany Names Reed Krakoff ‘Chief Artistic Officer’
The jewelry house is expanding the designer’s role from luxury goods collaborator to design director as Francesca Amfitheatrof exits the company.
New York--Reed Krakoff has gotten a promotion.
The longtime accessory and fashion designer is set to become Tiffany & Co.’s chief artistic officer, a newly created position, the company said Tuesday.
The role will include design direction for Tiffany-branded jewelry and luxury accessories plus leadership of the company’s overall artistic vision relating to stores, e-commerce, marketing and advertising.
Krakoff will start in the role on Feb. 1.
It’s a big upgrade from Krakoff’s previous relationship with Tiffany, which saw him collaborate with the jewelry house on a relaunch of its gifts, home and accessories collections, which will be released for holiday 2017.
The current design director for Tiffany-branded jewelry, Francesca Amfitheatrof, will leave the company after her three-and-a-half-year stint.
“I’m honored to join Tiffany as chief artistic officer and fully dedicate my creative focus to this storied American luxury brand,” said Krakoff via a news release. “The exceptional opportunity to further Tiffany’s rich creative legacy of design and craftsmanship, and join the incredible talent within Tiffany, is truly inspiring.”
Tiffany CEO Frederic Cumenal said, “Reed’s extraordinary talent and deep understanding of iconic American design, and Tiffany’s defining role in its legacy, make him poised for great success in this new position. His expertise and creativity will continue to help build Tiffany as a global house of luxury.”
