What gemstone is the favorite among consumers?
Jewelry Television is asking the public to vote on their favorite gemstone to select the “Gem of the Year,” a promotion that gives the on-air retailer valuable insight into customer preferences.
Consumers will vote for one of three of JTV’s best-selling gemstones--morganite, tanzanite, and chrome diopside--between Oct. 28 and Nov. 9. Each voter automatically will be entered to win a trio of jewelry pieces, including one of each of the three stones.
These three gemstones were chosen by JTV’s gemstone buyers, gemology experts and merchandisers based on beauty, rarity, and desirability.
Chrome diopside varies in color slightly from a vivid green to a bluish- or even yellowish-green. Tanzanite also comes in a variety of hues, ranging from blue, violet blue or bluish-purple, and is sourced solely from Tanzania, making it a very rare stone.
Morganite, meanwhile, is named after financier and gem enthusiast J.P. Morgan. Its salmon pink or slightly purplish-pink hue comes from the presence of manganese.
“There are several ‘best of’ yearly designations, but to our knowledge this is a first for the gemstone category,” said Jill Johnson, vice president of marketing at JTV. “As one of the world’s premiere experts on rare and exotic gemstones, JTV is positioned to lead the charge for an annual Gem of the Year.”
