Hong Kong--A “highly translucent” jadeite bangle is expected to be the top lot at Sotheby’s Hong Kong next month.

The rare piece, the highlight of the Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite sale scheduled for April 3, is expected to sell for $10.2 million to $12.8 million.

The bangle is described as having a full, emerald-green color with “fine texture.” It was named the “Circle of Heaven” not only for its circular form, representing the idea of unity, but also because jade has traditionally been though to be the “stone of heaven” in Chinese belief.

In addition to the bangle, the April sale also will feature classic period jewels, including a number of Art Deco pieces, as well as contemporary jewelry.

A 24.70-carat cushion-shaped Burmese ruby ring could sell for as much as $11.8 million.

A step-cut fancy blue diamond weighing 14.18 carats surrounded by brilliant-cut diamonds set in platinum and 18-karat pink gold could sell for as much as $7.7 million; a 30.16-carat step-cut fancy vivid yellow diamond is estimated to go for between $2.4 million and $3.2 million; and an oval jadeite cabochon and diamond ring could sell for up to $3.6 million.

Sotheby’s Hong Kong sale also will feature a curated collection of statement earrings called “Jewels for the Red Carpet.”

It was inspired by actress Ashley Judd’s look at the 2018 Golden Globes. She wore a pair of Martin Katz emerald and diamond pendant earrings, which will be included in the auction and are estimated to sell for as much as $256,000.

The red carpet portion of the auction also features keshi pearl, rock crystal and diamond earrings from Wallace Chan ($61,500 to $83,500); a pair of aquamarine and diamond earrings from Cartier ($122,000 to $179,000); Bhagat spinel and diamond earrings ($122,000 to $179,000); and a pair of diamond earrings from Cindy Chao ($83,500 to $109,000).

Totaling more than 280 lots, Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite is estimated to garner in excess of $93.6 million.
