Rubies are arguably the rulers of the colored gemstone world. They can command the highest per-carat price of any colored stone, according to the Gemological Institute of America, cementing them as one of the most important gems on the market.
They also have a strong place in history, with many early civilizations creating legends around the brilliant red hue of the gem, and are thought to bring good health, wealth, wisdom and love.
