Piece of the Week: Vanessa Fernández Studio’s ‘Curva’ Wrap Hoops
The trendy earrings feature asymmetrical drops, one with a grossular garnet and the other with a diamond.

According to trend forecaster Paula De Luca and her “Trendbook 2027+,” mismatched earrings fit into one of the four directions that she predicts will define the coming season.
Spectrum play is one of these directions, which highlights the use of color in jewelry and can be seen through the use of colored gemstones in styles like mismatched earrings.
Our Piece of the Week, Vanessa Fernández Studio’s “Curva” wrap hoops, is the perfect embodiment of this colorful mismatched trend.
The 18-karat yellow gold hoops start the same with a rope of pavé diamonds wrapping around them and then branch off when it comes to the design of the drops.
A pear-cut grossular garnet is suspended from one hoop while the other features a pear-cut diamond drop.
Despite both gemstones being pear-cut they play with asymmetry and color through the choice of one featuring a grossular garnet instead of two matching diamonds.
“I love making mismatched earrings, I find them to be interesting, almost like a toi et moi for the ears,” said Vanessa Fernández, founder, designer, and goldsmith of her namesake brand.
“I like the way each earring is unique. Why do they have to match? I love pairing color and diamond together.”
Fernández has crafted a toi et moi ring similar to this pair that she calls a toi et moi for the ears.
Her one-of-a-kind ring featuring a 2-carat fancy light brown diamond and a 1.50-carat fancy brown-yellow diamond wrapped in 18-karat yellow gold also showcases pear-cut stones that are not a perfect color match.
In July, this toi et moi ring won a CASE Award in the supplier category for jewelry $20,001 to $75,000.
The Curva wrap hoops are priced upon request.
The earrings debuted in the “Curva” collection at Couture in June.
At the show, Fernández also won a Couture Design Award in the Best in Colored Gemstones Above $40,000 category for her necklace featuring more than 32 carats of chrysoberyl.
