Piece of the Week: Bliss Lau’s ‘Bright’ Ring
From Lau’s “Love of a Kind” series, the engagement ring was inspired by the moon and holds a different meaning depending on how it is worn.

In fact, it’s popular to involve colored gemstones in multi-stone rings, as National Jeweler reported in its 2025 engagement ring trends forecast, and Bliss Lau’s latest “Love of a Kind” collection does just that.
Lau, the founder and designer of her eponymous brand, filled her bridal collection with colorful engagement rings, using one-of-a-kind sapphires from her private collection amassed over more than a decade.
Currently a nine-piece collection, with more styles to come, her “Bright” ring is our Piece of the Week.
It features a 1.63-carat heated purple sapphire with flashes of pink from Madagascar, which Lau sourced from one of her favorite gem cutters, Larry Woods.
Accenting the pear-cut sapphire are two diamonds, a 0.35-carat old mine-cut and a pavé diamond, with everything set in 14-karat Single Mine Origin yellow gold sourced from the Sabodala-Massawa Mine in Senegal.
The Bright ring is a three-stone ring, but instead of the traditional composition seen in engagement rings—large stone in the center, with small stones of the same size on each side—the sapphire is set off-center, while the graduating diamonds trail off to one side.
The design of the piece was inspired by the phases of the moon and how it reflects life’s ever-changing rhythms.
“The phases of the moon always remind me that change is constant, and that beauty exists in every stage,” Lau said. “To me, gemstones represent a moment in time, a grounding force. The ring itself is a physical reminder of clarity, intention, and transformation.
“I believe jewelry can be more than adornment—it can help connect us to who we are becoming, and gently guide us there. The Bright ring is designed to bring that idea to life.”
If the ring is worn with the stones descending to the right, it channels the energy of the waxing moon. This symbolizes abundance, passion, and growth.
However, if it is worn with the stone descending to the left, it honors the waning moon, becoming a time for reflection, release, and renewal.
This is the way Lau would wear the ring when she is feeling more introspective, she said.
“It’s a way of listening, learning, and slowing down, which feels especially grounding in the midst of a busy life.”
The Bright ring retails for $7,260.
It debuted on May 9 alongside the other pieces in the Love of a Kind collection and is available on the Bliss Lau website.
Earlier this year, Lau rolled out a fashion jewelry collection titled “As We Are.”
