Here’s the Lineup for This Year’s Antique ‘Jewelry Camp’
The 39th edition of the Antique Jewelry and Art Conference being held at Hofstra University this summer features a host of notable speakers.
New York--Programming has been announced for the 39th annual Antique Jewelry and Art Conference, referred to as “Jewelry Camp,” being held at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York Aug. 4-6.
The opening evening, Friday, Aug. 4, will feature a lecture by Donna Bilak, Ph.D., a postdoctoral scholar for The Making and Knowing Project at Columbia University, titled “Out of the Ivy and Into the Arctic: Teaching Jewelry History and Craft Technology at Columbia University and Nunavut Arctic College.”
Saturday and Sunday will provide a host of educational and networking opportunities.
Highlights include a presentation Saturday by Ben Macklowe of Macklowe Gallery on “An American Dynasty: The Legacy of the House and Tiffany,” as well as “Jewelry in the Times of Crisis” by Michael Coan, assistant professor of jewelry design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Journalist Beth Bernstein will speak about “The Modern Woman’s Guide to Buying and Wearing Antique Jewelry” on both Saturday and Sunday.
Vice President and Director of Jewelry at Bonhams U.S. Susan Abeles will also give a presentation on both days titled “Appraising on the Run: Auctions, Pricing and Research!”

Saturday night is the designated “Dealer’s Night” in which dealers display exceptional and hard-to-find pieces for sale.
