Miley Cyrus Debuts Edgy Engagement Ring
Fellow musician Maxx Morando proposed to the star with a chunky, cushion-cut diamond ring designed by Jacquie Aiche.

The couple has yet to make an official announcement, but Morando’s father appears to have confirmed the engagement with a congratulatory post on Threads.
The post came after the couple was seen on the red carpet for the premiere of “Avatar: Fire and Ash” on Monday, with Cyrus making her ring visible as she placed her left hand on Morando’s chest.

Cyrus’ east-west set engagement ring is a custom design by Jacquie Aiche, the designer behind her namesake brand, which is known for its luxe, bohemian-inspired jewelry.
It features a cushion-cut diamond set in 14-karat yellow gold, according to Aiche, who declined to provide additional commentary on the ring.
Maddy Sangster, founder of U.K.-based jewelry brand Heavenly London, estimated that the diamond is in the 4 to 6 carat range, and Daniela Tarantino, vice president of merchandising at Blue Nile, said the ring likely cost around $300,000 to $450,000.
The solitaire ring reflects current engagement ring trends—it is a chunky, bombe-style ring with antique inspiration, and modern elements in the east-west setting.
Designer Stephanie Gottlieb noted that the diamond is burnish set, a technique where a gemstone is embedded so that its surface is flush with the metal.
Cyrus’ ring is a “modern take on a classic solitaire silhouette,” said Jillian Sassone, founder of Marrow Fine.
“I think it’s very in line with Miley’s vibe: edgy, all about making a statement. We’re seeing a good amount of clients gravitate towards chunkier designs with more secure settings that hold up to everyday wear.”
Other celebrities have also been indulging in this year’s bridal trends for their engagement ring.
In January, Zendaya was also spotted on the red carpet with an engagement ring that features similar elements to the ring Cyrus was seen wearing. It is an east-west set, elongated cushion-cut diamond engagement ring.
Then, in June, Dua Lipa debuted her chunky gold engagement ring.
Gottlieb also noted that Cyrus’ ring uses a warmer-color stone, which is becoming increasingly sought after.
While Cyrus’ red-carpet ring reveal sparked the spread of the engagement news online, the star had originally given a first glance at the ring in an Nov. 23 Instagram post celebrating her 33rd birthday.
Following the movie premiere on Monday, Cyrus also posted a slideshow of images from the event, including one where she appears to be looking down at ring.
It includes the caption “Baby, when we dream we dream as one,” which may be a nod to their engagement but also are lyrics to her song “Dream As One,” which is featured in the film.
Cyrus and Morando have been dating since 2021, after they were set up on a blind date, Cyrus told British Vogue in a 2023 interview.
Morando is currently the drummer in the band Liily and has collaborated with Cyrus on songs for her last two albums, “Endless Summer Vacation” and “Something Beautiful.”
Previously, Cyrus was married to Liam Hemsworth. The two had an on-again, off-again relationship from 2009 until their official divorce in 2020 with two engagements, one ring, and one secret wedding, according to People.
The ring Hemsworth proposed with was designed by Neil Lane and also centered on a cushion-cut diamond. It was set in an 18-karat yellow gold band with floral motifs, according to CBS News.
