SSEF Opens Applications for 2 Gemology Education Scholarships
The awards include tuition for a course at the Swiss lab, economy flights, and hotel accommodation.
Applications for the Henry A. Hänni scholarship and the George Bosshart scholarship are open until Nov. 15.
Basel, Switzerland—The Swiss Gemmological Institute SSEF has opened applications for its two annual gemology education scholarships.
Each scholarship offers free tuition for an educational course at the lab, based in Basel, Switzerland, as well as economy flights and hotel accommodation for one participant.
The scholarships were created to make high-level gemological education accessible, the lab said.

The scholarships were created to make high-level gemological education accessible, the lab said.
They are named in honor of Henry A. Hänni and George Bosshart, both former directors of SSEF who made “outstanding contributions to gemological research and education,” the lab said.

The Henry A. Hänni scholarship, which launched last year, is open to applicants who are from a gemstone producing country.
The award can be applied to any course taking place in 2026.
The George Bosshart scholarship is open globally to students with an interest in diamonds.
The award is exclusively for the 5-day Scientific Diamonds Course in 2026.
Applications, which can be found here, are open now through Nov 15.
Winners will be announced on Dec. 15.
