Nomad’s Is Selling Its Stones to Raise Money for Ukraine Again
In the spirit of an advent calendar, “Gems to Help Ukraine” will sell a stone a day through Dec. 24 on the Nomad’s Instagram account.
From now until Dec. 24, Nomad’s will sell one gem per day on its Instagram account to raise money for United24, the primary venue for collecting charitable donations in support of Ukraine.
New York—Colored gemstone supplier Nomad’s is holding another sale of its gems to benefit Ukraine.
In the spirit of a traditional advent calendar, “Gems to Help Ukraine” will sell a gem a day on the company’s Instagram account, starting today through Dec. 24, beginning with the 8-carat green tourmaline seen at the top of the page.
The stones will have set prices. Since the benefit sale is open to everyone, each Instagram post will include public prices, but members of the trade can receive wholesale prices upon request, Nomad’s said.
The company will feature a variety of its stock—tourmaline, tanzanite, garnet, aquamarine, zircon, and more, in various shapes, sizes, colors, and prices.
One hundred percent of proceeds from the event will go to United24, launched by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the primary venue for collecting charitable donations in support of Ukraine.
“This holiday season is going to be tough for many Ukrainians. Horrible rocket strikes continue to destroy the heating, water, and electricity supplies just as winter sets in,” the company said on an Instagram post.
“Acts of compassion and generosity can make a difference.”
The founders of Nomad’s are originally from Ukraine. The self-taught gem cutters got their start with Ukrainian topaz and heliodor beryl from the country’s Volodarsk-Volynskii mine after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Though the company has expanded globally, they still have friends and family in the country.
Nomad’s already has held one event to raise money for United24, hosting an online auction of gems this summer.
