National Jeweler released its 2016 State of the Majors report, both in print and online, this week.
This week was a big one for National Jeweler, which saw its State of the Majors report launch in both print and online, highlighting the industry’s biggest sellers of fine jewelry as well as providing an analysis of the diamond, jewelry design and gemstone markets.
Meanwhile, JA New York Special Delivery wrapped up in Manhattan with a number of exhibitors reported a strong show, and one National Jeweler editor picked her favorite jewelry from TEFAF’s first New York edition.
The world’s largest D flawless heart-shaped diamond was unveiled and the Diamond Producers Association launched the latest installment in its “Real is Rare” marketing campaign.

National Jeweler released its 2016 State of the Majors report this week, with features including the $100 Million Supersellers and Top 50 Retail Jewelry Chains, as well as an analysis of the retail, diamond, jewelry design and gemstone markets.
The Retail Association of Maine named Day’s Jewelers as its 2016 Retailer of the Year for its charitable giving and growth.
The American Gem Society announced the remaining keynote and featured speakers for Conclave 2017, a lineup that includes the “Retail Doctor” Bob Phibbs and violinist Kai Kight.
National Jeweler reported live from JA New York Special Delivery at the Javits Center in Manhattan this week, where exhibitors and buyers noted that the show was strong this year, particularly on opening day.
In her latest blog post, Senior Editor Brecken Branstrator showcases 12 pieces of citrine and topaz jewelry to ogle as the gemstones step into the spotlight this month.
TEFAF’s first New York edition brought four illustrious design houses to the Big Apple, and Associate Editor Ashley Davis shared some of her favorite pieces in her latest blog post.
National Jeweler highlighted a number of books of interest to the trade and small business owners, including the second edition of an in-depth gemstone guide and one on how to be a “superboss.”
Pandora announced that in its third quarter, it trimmed 103 retailers in the Americas and then dropped 700 in the month of October, as it continues to open more concept stores and shop-in-shops.
Graff Diamonds has unveiled the 118.78-carat “Graff Venus,” a stone it says is the world’s largest D flawless heart-shaped diamond.
The Diamond Producers Association tapped “America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon for a new short film that serves as the second installment in its “Real is Rare” campaign.
The Rapaport Group said prices for 1-carat, half-carat and 0.3-carat diamonds fell in October, as the middle of the pipeline remains sufficiently stocked to meet retail demand.
Swiss watchmaker Frederique Constant has expanded its horological smartwatch collection, launching its first ladies’ smartwatches and updating its wearables for men.
