Jeweler Shot and Killed in His Suburban Cincinnati Store
Tara Sinchuri was the owner of Everest Jewels in Fairfield, Ohio, and a father of three. He was found dead in his store on Tuesday.

The shooting happened Tuesday afternoon at Everest Jewels in Fairfield, Ohio, a suburban town located about 30 miles north of Cincinnati.
Fairfield police could not be reached for comment by deadline, but according to a report from local NBC affiliate WLWT5, officers responded to reports of gunshots at Everest Jewels just before 1 p.m.
They found a man, identified as store owner Tara Sinchuri, dead inside and the front window of the business shattered.
The case is being investigated as a robbery-homicide.
According to WLWT5, Sinchuri was a 52-year-old father of three who had immigrated to the United States from Nepal. He and his family were celebrating the first day of a Nepalese Hindu festival on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the Facebook page for the Etna, Ohio-based Hindu Biswakarma Community USA posted a notification about Sinchuri’s death, writing, “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the untimely demise of Tara Sinchuri.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray for eternal peace of the departed soul. May God grant the grieving family the strength and courage to endure this difficult time.”
WLWT5 reported that detectives were asking to see nearby business owners’ surveillance footage to find a car leaving the scene of the shooting.
Sinchuri is the third member of the jewelry industry killed on the job this year, Jewelers’ Security Alliance Executive Vice President Scott Guginsky confirmed Wednesday.
On April 28, 35-year-old Lazaro Rodriguez Vega was shot and killed at Fort Pierce, Florida, pawn shop Cash Out Gold and Silver, where she worked as a manager.
Also on April 28, 71-year-old Harjinder Singh, an employee of Chinna Jewellers Inc. in Sacramento, California, died from injuries sustained 10 days earlier in a type of robbery that’s been referred to as a “crash and grab.”
The criminals, who usually work in large groups, drive a vehicle through the front of the store then run in and commit a smash-and-grab robbery.
There were two industry homicides in 2025.
