London Diamond Bourse Elects First Female President
Charlotte Rose said her election is “a sign that this is an industry capable of change.”

In fact, Rose is believed to be the first woman to serve as president of any diamond bourse in the world, said LDB. She previously served as its vice president.
She succeeds David Troostwyk, who will take on the role of vice president. He served as president for two-and-a-half years.
Rose has served on LDB’s council of management since 2023, as per her LinkedIn profile.
The third-generation jeweler is the founder and director of Solomons & Rose Ltd, a jeweler based in London’s diamond district, Hatton Garden. Rose is also the founder and director of London-based Furlong Auction House.
Rose said she’s honored the council of management chose her for the role.
“I am conscious, too, of what this particular election represents,” she said.
“The London Diamond Bourse has been trading since 1940, and I am the first woman to lead it. I would rather that fact was unremarkable, and one day, it will be. For now, I take it as a sign that this is an industry capable of change, and that our members are ready for it.”
Rose thanked her predecessor Troostwyk, who she will continue to work alongside.
“It has been a privilege to lead the London Diamond Bourse, and I couldn’t think of a more capable, ambitious, young leader to be handing over the presidency to [than] Charlotte,” said Troostwyk.
“She has the vision, hunger, and work ethic needed to succeed in modernizing and taking the London Diamond Bourse forward.”
He said he wants to ensure that LDB “remains forward thinking, progressive, and an example to other diamond bourses.”
The election was held following LDB’s annual meeting last week. Wolf Rabstein was elected as treasurer while Paul Koppelman will continue serving as executive officer.
Its new and returning council members include Lewis Malka, Howard Levine, Kathy Chappell, Anna Rogers, and Shadi Jin-Ziabee.
