Piece of the Week: Jenna Blake’s Colorful Drop Earrings
They make the case for atypical gemstone groupings.
The typical colored gemstone design highlights one gem variety, perhaps accenting the stone with white diamonds.
Some jewelry designers, however, make combining several shades look easy. The benefit of incorporating several different colored gems into one design is that the jewel starts to go with everything.

A variety of gems are united thanks to their simple gold-pronged setting, similar to a Georgian and Victorian era “collet” setting.
