New York—The Museum of Arts and Design’s (MAD) spring jewelry celebration is back.

The museum is hosting “MAD About Jewelry,” its annual benefit sale of contemporary jewelry, highlighting 50 designers, a mix of emerging and established talent.

“MAD About Jewelry has become known as the ultimate pop-up shop for contemporary, artist-made jewelry, where collectors and jewelry enthusiasts have the rare opportunity to meet and acquire pieces from some of the most innovative creators in the field,” said organizers.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the participating artists and support the museum’s educational programs.

Entry to the sale is free with museum admission. MAD is located at 2 Columbus Circle in New York City.

The event will be held from April 26-29, with a benefit preview dinner slated for April 25.

The dinner will double as an award ceremony, honoring the 2023 MAD About Jewelry Award recipients.

This year’s honorees include Alexis Bittar, the designer behind the eponymous jewelry and accessories brand.

“Bittar fuses art and sculpture with a brave use of color and unique materials that has set his designs apart for over 30 years,” said the museum.

Sam Broekema, editor-in-chief of the Natural Diamond Council’s editorial site, Only Natural Diamonds, also will take home an award.

The fashion industry veteran oversees the publication’s quarterly issues and is responsible for its annual trend reports, content strategy, and creative direction.

Linda Fargo, senior vice president of fashion and store presentation at Bergdorf Goodman will also receive an award.

“Regarded as the ‘eyes of Bergdorf Goodman,’ Linda Fargo is responsible for spotting trends and shaping the visual identity of the storied and opulent New York department store,” said the museum.

She has been with the retailer since 2006 and leads the creative direction of the store’s windows and its overall look.

MAD is one of the only museums in the U.S. to have a gallery dedicated to special jewelry exhibitions, as well as its own collection of contemporary and modern studio and art jewelry.
