JSA Announces Award Recipients
They will be recognized at the organization’s annual luncheon this weekend in New York City.
The Jewelers Security Alliance will award the founder and CEO of DGA Security Systems, Stanley Oppenheim, with its annual Industry Service Award this weekend in New York City.
New York—The Jewelers Security Alliance is set to honor two individuals for their service to the jewelry industry this weekend.
On Sat., Jan. 18 at the annual JSA luncheon, JA will present the eighteenth annual Industry Service Award to Stanley Oppenheim, founder and CEO of DGA Security Systems.
DGA Security Systems is a leading supplier of alarm and security services to diamond and jewelry professionals. Oppenheim founded the company 50 years ago.
Today, it employs 600 people, including a research and development and engineering team that have pioneered many security alarm technology advancements over the years, JSA said.
“This is the first time that JSA has presented the Industry Service Award to someone who is a supplier of security products or services,” said JSA President John Kennedy.
“However, Stanley is a very special honoree. In addition to being the gold standard in the alarm industry, he has always given generously of his time in helping JSA personnel and others in the jewelry industry to understand the technology and changes as they occurred in the alarm industry.”
JSA also will present the 24th annual James B. White Law Enforcement Award to Joseph Metsopulos, a New York City Police Department detective with the major case squad.
Metsopulos is currently the liaison of the major case squad to the New York City Diamond District. He has worked for the NYPD for 18 years.
Over the last five years, he has investigated more than 250 diamond- and jewelry-related cases, and arrested and prosecuted more than 60 jewelry criminals, JSA said, resulting in the recovery of millions of dollars’ worth of stolen diamonds, jewelry, and watches.
Kennedy said, “Joe’s extraordinary record of investigations and arrests in jewelry crimes speaks for itself. His expertise, energy and dedication have helped make the industry safer.”
