Siobhán Duffy Promoted to Chief Executive of Element Six
She was previously the executive director of sales and marketing for the De Beers Group-owned company.
Siobhán Duffy, Element Six’s executive director for sales and marketing, has been promoted to chief executive. She’ll take over from Walter Huehn on Feb. 1.
London—Element Six, De Beers Group’s synthetic diamond arm, has promoted from within to fill the role of chief executive.
Siobhán Duffy, currently the company’s executive director for sales and marketing, will take over as chief executive from Walter Huehn effective Feb. 1.
Duffy has been with Element Six for more than 30 years, holding a series of senior management positions in that time. This includes leading the company’s Oil & Gas business unit through “unprecedented growth” and heading the company’s “Innovation” department as executive director for four years.
“[Element Six] is at an exciting juncture with strong performance in existing markets and significant potential for our products in emerging applications,” Duffy said. “I look forward to leading Element Six’s strong team as we continue to build our proposition across all market sectors.”
CEO Bruce Cleaver called Duffy the ideal candidate to take Element Six “from strength to strength.”
“She has outstanding experience across the Element Six product portfolio and across the range of disciplines within the business. She is a highly regarded senior leader and her valued knowledge and insights will also make her an asset to the De Beers Group Executive Committee.”
Duffy’s appointment is one of a number of key, recent personnel changes for De Beers Group.
Stephen Lussier retired in spring 2022 after 37 years with the company, while Charles Stanley, who’s been with De Beers since 1994, is set to retire at the end of February.
In October 2022, De Beers announced Cleaver would be stepping down in early 2023, replaced by energy industry executive Al Cook. Cook’s first day will be Feb. 20.
In addition, Lightbox, De Beers’ consumer-facing lab-grown diamond brand, named a new CEO last fall, Antoine Borde.
