Don’t Miss This Virtual Presentation About Retail Fraud and Mitigating Risk
It’s scheduled for Wednesday, July 27 at 1 p.m. EDT in The Plumb Club’s Jewelers Resource Center.
New York—The Plumb Club is partnering with Jewelers of America and Synchrony Financial to host a virtual presentation about fraud.
The webinar, titled “How Big is Fraud—Mitigating Your Risk,” will be held on The Plumb Club’s virtual learning and meeting platform, Jewelers Resource Center, next Wednesday, July 27 at 1 p.m. EDT.
It is open to everyone in the industry.
According to The Plumb Club, it’s estimated that by 2023, retailers will lose $130 billion a year to fraudulent transactions, and the number is only expected to rise from there.
In next week’s virtual presentation, retailers will learn about the various types of fraud ranging from internal—such as refunds and credits—to external—like identity theft, counterfeit fraud, and account take-over fraud.
They will also become familiar with the key indicators of fraud, like client behavior and patterns.
The webinar will also cover employee training and internal controls a store owner can implement to help mitigate risk.
This information will be presented by Mark Solomon, vice president of fraud investigations for Synchrony.
Solomon is responsible for investigating large-scale fraud as well as financial and cybercriminal activities.
Prior to Synchrony, he retired as “Detective 1st Grade” after a 26-year career with the Greenwich Police Department. He spent more than 18 years serving in the Detective Division, with 11 years assigned to the CT Financial Crime Task Force (U.S. Secret Service).
