In fall 2020, Jewelers of America and National Jeweler fielded the “Diversity in the Fine Jewelry Industry” survey. From an employer perspective, the survey painted a picture of an industry that is diverse, open, and inclusive. Employees, however, saw it differently. So, where does the fine jewelry industry stand more than two years later? Have we made progress toward becoming more diverse, or have conversations around equity and inclusion fallen by the wayside? Signet Jewelers’ Reggie Johnson and jewelry designer Sheryl Jones join National Jeweler’s Michelle Graff and Jewelers of America’s Annie Doresca for a frank discussion.
