Week in Photos – Las Vegas Edition
This week’s photo rewind rounds up the shows, events and activities held during market week in Sin City.
For somewhere around a week and a half, the jewelry industry took over Sin City.
By day, there was plenty of activity among Couture at the Wynn, JCK Las Vegas and Luxury at Mandalay Bay and the Antique Jewelry & Watch Show at the Paris.
By night, there were parties and events aplenty. Couture kicked off with a performance from TV On The Radio, while Simon G Jewelry and David Yurman both celebrated the market week with celebrations of their own.
Participants in Jewelers for Children’s Rings of Strength Tour ran, walked and biked to help raise more funds. Just a few days later, at the Facets of Hope dinner, the industry’s charity revealed how much money it had made so far for the organizations it supports in the year ahead.

The Couture Design Awards Saturday evening celebrated not only the best in jewelry design from exhibitors at the show, but also celebrated the life of Cindy Edelstein, renaming its Human Spirit Award after her. Edelstein herself received the inaugural award, which was presented to her husband Frank Stankus and daughter Remy Sasha Stankus.
The Couture show ran from June 2 to 6 at the Wynn hotel, continuing its curation of fine jewelry designers and brands as well as the first expansion into COUTUREtime.

The Diamond Empowerment Fund hosted a cocktail party and dinner gala at the Four Seasons Hotel on June 2 to support its “Diamonds Do Good” initiative. A number of industry players were honored that night, and attendees were treated to a performance from drummers in Triba, a group of performers from many sections and cultures of Africa.
The Luxury show opened for invitation-only buying on May 31 and then to the general crowds on Friday, when the JCK Las Vegas show also began. Buying activity at both ran through Monday.
JCK Las Vegas also held the JCK Talks sessions on the show floor, ranging in topic from diamond treatments and responsible sourcing to marketing strategies and a trend panel featuring Emmy-winning costume designer, Lyn Paolo, pictured above at center.
Jewelers for Children held the fourth annual Rings of Strength Tour on June 2 at Mandalay Bay, where more than 160 participants assembled early in the morning to either walk or run a 5K, or bike one of two courses. Participants who signed up created their own fundraising websites, collecting more than $50,000 to support the charity.
Simon G. Jewelry, meanwhile, hosted a Summer Soiree Saturday night at the Trump International Hotel, with musician Natasha Bedingfield taking to the stage to perform for attendees while also donning Simon G. jewelry. Designer Simon Ghanimian hosted the evening along with his wife, Sylvia, and sons Zaven and Hratch.
Couture got things started with a performance from TV On The Radio at its private and invitation-only opening night event for buyers and exhibitors held pool-side at the Wynn.

On Sunday evening, Jewelers for Children held its 18th annual Facets of Hope event at Mandalay Bay, where it announced that $3.1 million had been raised to support its charity partners in the year ahead.
David Yurman hosted a cabana pool party to celebrate Couture at the MGM Mansion Pool & Rose Garden Saturday night. Entertainment included DJ duo The Misshapes and the Ovia Entertainment synchronized swimming troupe.
