Diamonds Do Good Pledges Support for Eye Care Program
The nonprofit awarded a grant to the Gift of Sight initiative spearheaded by South African musician Black Coffee.

Sardinia, Italy—Diamonds Do Good (DDG) has awarded a grant to the Black Coffee Foundation’s Gift of Sight initiative.
South African musician and philanthropist Nkosinathi Maphumulo, who goes by the stage name Black Coffee, established the foundation in 2010, developing programs designed to benefit and empower South African communities.
The Gift of Sight initiative brings mobile eye care programs to underserved and rural communities across South Africa, offering free vision screenings and eyewear to children.
“Every child deserves the chance to see what is possible for their future,” said Black Coffee. “Gift of Sight is personal to me because it is about creating access to something that can fundamentally change a child’s experience in the classroom and their outlook on what is possible.”
“I am grateful to Diamonds Do Good for recognizing the importance of this work and for helping us expand the project so that we can reach even more children and communities across South Africa.”

DDG said the decision reflects its commitment to investing in the communities connected to the natural diamond industry via grants and strategic partnerships that support education, entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment, health, and other programs that help those communities.
Lungie Maphumulo, CEO of the Black Coffee Foundation, thanked DDG for its support.
“This grant will help us extend the reach of the Gift of Sight by Black Coffee initiative and continue building partnerships that allow us to bring meaningful, sustainable healthcare interventions to children across the country,” said Maphumulo.
The announcement was made on Aug. 13 at an exclusive event at Phi Beach at the Baja Sardinia resort in Sardinia, Italy.
