Why More Jewelry Retailers Are Hosting Turnkey Estate Buying Events

Independent jewelry retailers are continually seeking new ways to attract customers, increase foot traffic, and create additional revenue opportunities. Estate buying events have emerged as a popular solution because they bring new and existing customers into the store for reasons beyond traditional retail shopping.

Stratus Estate Buyers partners with independent jewelry retailers to host turnkey, three-day estate buying events. During these events, experienced specialists evaluate and purchase designer handbags, fine art, militaria, jewelry, watches, coins, precious metals, and other valuables directly from consumers. Stratus manages the marketing, logistics, evaluations, and purchases, while the hosting retailer provides the venue and earns a commission on purchases—all at no cost to the store.

A Different Type of Store Event

Unlike traditional retail events focused on selling merchandise, estate buying events attract individuals who may not otherwise visit the store.

Many consumers own inherited valuables or items they no longer use, including designer handbags, fine art, militaria, jewelry, watches, coins, and collectibles. These events provide a convenient opportunity to learn the value of those items in a trusted, professional setting.

Revenue Without Purchasing Inventory

One of the greatest advantages for retailers is that they never purchase customer items themselves.

Stratus buyers conduct evaluations, make offers, complete transactions, and assume responsibility for all acquired assets. Once the event concludes, the retailer receives a commission based on total purchases, creating a new revenue stream with zero risk.

Bringing New Customers Through the Door

Estate buying events frequently attract first-time visitors who may be unfamiliar with the store.

While attendees initially come to have valuables evaluated, they also gain exposure to the retailer's showroom, services, and expertise. Many later return for repairs, appraisals, custom design projects, gift purchases, or engagement rings.

Professional Marketing Included

Like any successful event, estate buying events depend on strong marketing. To maximize attendance, Stratus manages the marketing campaign at no cost to the retailer.

Promotional efforts include direct mail, digital advertising, social media, email marketing, and appointment scheduling, all designed to drive traffic and generate qualified leads.

This allows retailers to benefit from a professionally managed campaign without adding work for their own team, making it easier to host a successful event while staying focused on day-to-day operations.

A Valuable Addition to Any Retail Strategy

Estate buying events provide value for both consumers and retailers. Customers gain professional evaluations and immediate purchasing opportunities for valuables they no longer need, while retailers benefit from increased visibility, new customer introductions, and commission-based revenue.

As interest in inherited valuables, precious metals, and collectibles continues to grow, estate buying events have become an effective, low-risk way for jewelry retailers to strengthen community engagement, attract new customers, and generate additional revenue throughout the year.
