TJS Accepting Speaker Proposals for 2027 Event
Organizers are looking for presentations on topics like manufacturing, technology and research, bench work, gemstones, and sustainability.
The Jewelry Symposium is looking for speakers for next year’s event, which is scheduled for May 15-18, 2027, at the Detroit Marriott Troy in Detroit, Michigan.
Troy, Mich.—The Jewelry Symposium (TJS) is looking for speakers for its 2027 event.
Organizers are accepting proposals from those interested in presenting at next year’s event. Abstracts can be submitted online from now through Aug. 1.
TJS said it is looking for original presentations on a variety of topics, including manufacturing, technology and research, business practices, safety, history, bench work, gemstones, metals, sustainability, and sourcing skilled employees.
Speakers will have to write a paper on the topic and give a 45-minute presentation about it at the conference.
This year’s topics included new technological developments in 3D printing, tips for specific types of casting and polishing defects, AI applications for jewelry design, and navigating Federal Trade Commission guidelines.
The 2027 Jewelry Symposium is scheduled for May 15-18 at the Detroit Marriott Troy in Detroit, Michigan.

TJS is a continuation of the long-running Santa Fe Symposium, which last took place in 2022.
This year’s TJS event was held in Detroit from May 16-19. There were 131 attendees, organizers said.
“We are encouraged by the year-over-year growth since 2023, with an 18 percent increase in attendance at the symposium this year alone,” TJS Board Chairman Linus Drogs said.
“Overall, TJS this year received the best response from the industry yet, with more repeat and first-time attendees, more sponsor support, and a distinct feeling of connectedness and purpose among them all.”
Prior to this year’s symposium, Jewelers of America and MJSA Education Foundation co-sponsored a roundtable discussion, attended by around 100 industry members, about the workforce challenges and the loss of skilled labor in jewelry manufacturing.
The roundtable “prompted healthy debate and discussion about the ongoing hiring challenges and the strategies different companies use to overcome them,” Drogs said.
