The artwork celebrates the Atlanta jeweler’s legacy and symbolizes its commitment to supporting local artists and its community.

Atlanta—Georgia jeweler D. Geller & Son has partnered with local art students on a custom mural celebrating the company’s heritage.

The family-owned jeweler worked with Kennesaw State University’s Robert S. Geer Family College of the Arts to produce the piece, which is displayed in its Kennesaw, Georgia, showroom.

It was created by students from KSU’s School of Art and Design, who worked closely with the jeweler throughout the project to develop artwork that reflects its history, values, and dedication to exceptional craftsmanship.

The company was founded by Dan Geller, according to a history of the business on the jeweler’s website.

Dan’s father David Geller had emigrated from Russian to the United States in 1901 and worked in a jewelry manufacturing company.

Dan apprenticed with his father and later trained with Harry Winston and Julius Cohen before establishing his Atlanta store, which he ran with his wife Eve, in 1939.

Dan’s son Mike followed in his footsteps, apprenticing with his father at young age.

Mike asked for a raise in 1974, and Dan instead added “& Son” to the company’s name, according to the historical account.

When Dan died in 1975, Mike took over. Later, Mike’s son Jonathan also joined the business.

Today, D. Geller & Son has two locations in the greater Metro Atlanta area, one in Kennesaw and another in Sandy Springs.

The mural captures the intersection of tradition and innovation, the partners said.

It uniquely honors the legacy of a family-owned local business through the creative lens of emerging artists.

"This partnership demonstrates the power of connecting students with real-world opportunities that allow them to make a lasting impact," said Allen Peterson, lecturer of sculpture at KSU Art & Design.

"Our students gained valuable experience through this project while contributing something meaningful to the local community. We are grateful to D. Geller & Son for investing in young artists and supporting arts education."

The collaboration was designed to honor the artistry at the heart of both organizations, the partners said.

"Jewelry and art share a common foundation … creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling," said Jonathan Geller, president of D. Geller & Son.

"This mural allowed us to celebrate our family's history in a way we've never done before while creating an opportunity for talented young artists to showcase their work. We are proud to partner with Kennesaw State University and support the next generation of creatives in our community."

The mural serves as a visual reminder that craftsmanship, whether expressed through jewelry design or public art, is timeless, the partners said.

"This mural tells our story in a way we never have before," added Jonathan.

"It celebrates where we've been, the community that has supported us, and the future we are helping build together."
