For instance, the assumption that orange fluorescence in blue sapphires solely indicated a Sri Lankan origin was debunked when GIA researchers uncovered its presence in multiple low-iron metamorphic deposits.

Country boundaries don't affect where gems form, and gemstones from different deposits may possess similar properties.
