Satta Matturi Joins RJC Board
The jewelry designer founded her eponymous brand in 2015 after nearly two decades in the diamond industry.
Designer Satta Matturi of Matturi Fine Jewellery is joining the Responsible Jewellery Council’s board of directors.
London—The Responsible Jewellery Council has appointed Satta Matturi of Matturi Fine Jewellery to its board of directors.
Matturi founded her eponymous jewelry company in 2015 after 17 years working in diamond sales and rough diamond valuation.
She also manages a consultancy firm, offering jewelry industry-specific services, including rough diamond procurement, polished sourcing, and business advice.
Matturi is a familiar face at conferences and webinars, offering her insights on the sustainable distribution of mineral wealth and how to promote producer country beneficiation.
“Through her jewelry, Satta aims to dismantle social and economic barriers around access to the jewelry industry, to question traditional practices that no longer serve the needs of stakeholders, and to improve diversity at the top level of the industry,” said the RJC.
Matturi is also involved in mentorship programs and charities, focusing on jewelry and design in diamond-producing countries.
“I’m delighted to be joining the board of the RJC and look forward to contributing to their strategic goals whilst representing the views and needs of diverse stakeholders who are a key part of this industry,” said Matturi.
“I am excited to be part of this journey in supporting a broader and cohesive jewelry industry whilst promoting sustainable and responsible practices that should be accessible to all.”
John Hall, interim executive director at RJC, said Matturi’s knowledge and expertise will help RJC to tackle the issues faced by the industry today.
“We are pleased to welcome Satta Matturi to RJC’s Board. She, and her brand, represent the values that are close to the RJC’s heart: gender equality, diversity, inclusiveness and the implementation of responsible and sustainable business practices,” said Hall.
The RJC also recently elected new member forum representatives.
