Verragio Appoints Fine Jewelry Division Creative Director

Sophia Macris joins the company from Roberto Coin.

Sophia Macris, previously senior vice president of sales at Roberto Coin, is now the creative director of Verragio’s new fine jewelry division.
New York—Verragio’s new hire shows the brand is betting on the expansion of its fashion fine jewelry division.

The brand best known for its handcrafted diamond engagement rings and wedding bands has appointed Sophia Macris as the creative director of its new fine jewelry division.

She will lead design, merchandising, marketing, and training in the newly expanded fashion fine jewelry department, among other duties.

Verragio CEO and Designer Barry Verragio will continue to focus the company’s bridal business.

Macris has held several positions in the luxury retail sector.

She joins Verragio after 12 years at Roberto Coin, most recently as senior vice president of sales.

In that role, she managed national sales, built a training program, led special projects that included a Disney licensing deal, and crafted client and consumer-facing communications during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to her time at Roberto Coin, Macris worked at Barneys New York and Saks Fifth Avenue in buying and planning.

She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sophia into the Verragio family as we expand the reach of our brand,” Barry Verragio said. “It’s the perfect marriage as Verragio dives deeper into the world of fine jewelry, and I know that Sophia will help entice clients, both existing and new, to keep them coming back for more.”

Macris added, “I’m looking forward to bringing Verragio style to more moments in people’s lives. We want to be there not just for their engagement or wedding day, but every day, and I see Verragio’s new jewelry collections as an opportunity for shoppers to mark special moments with timeless pieces that express their style. I can’t wait to learn from the Verragio team and work hand-in-hand with them to create jewelry that is unlike any other.”

Verragio teased new brand and product news in the coming months as Macris settles into her new position.
