Check Out the ‘Mega Gems’ on Gembridge
The digital marketplace is highlighting its biggest stones and those considered great quality for their sizes.
This pair of trapiche sapphires (120.52 total carats) is listed in Gembridge’s special “Mega Gems” collection and priced at $11,790.
New York—Gembridge is highlighting the “mega gems” available on its platform.
The digital marketplace has created a curated collection of stones under that name on the website, offering interested buyers a place to discover the “biggest and best value colored gemstones” on Gembridge.
According to Helen Molesworth, Gembridge’s head of business development, size is the main criterion for the collection, especially anything notable for its particular gem type.
All the gems are over 50 carats, with some over 100 carats.
She said quality is also important, with all the stones listed in Mega Gems seen as great quality for their sizes.
As of press time, Mega Gems included everything from a 120.52-carat pair of trapiche sapphires ($11,790) and the 143.33-carat color change garnet seen below ($1.52 million) to a 141.58-carat rubellite ($39,300) and a 71.74-carat green tourmaline ($10,333).
Good imagery—both photos and videos—is also mandatory from consignors to be featured in one of Gembridge’s special collections.
When a new collection is featured on the homepage, it supersedes the previous highlighted collection. This means the Mega Gems curation will be visible for just another week or so.
Gembridge launched in early 2021, providing the colored gemstone sector with a digital marketplace to buy, sell, and consign product through a secure, insured, door-to-door service.
It also launched a sales channel allowing trade members to sell directly to consumers, called Friends of Gembridge, in March.
