Designer Polly Wales likes to set her gemstones in precious metals in such a way that the resulting effect has a “from-the-earth” aesthetic, like the stones are breaking through the surface of the gold.
Her designs are an eclectic mix of references from Byzantine and Indian jewelry as well as trends in high fashion, though the designer said that it is ultimately the women who wear her pieces who dictate how the jewelry evolves.
Wales unveiled many new designs in her signature collection at this year’s Couture show, as she transitions to using the process of lost wax casting for her jewelry.

This 18-karat gold ring features two rose-cut, pear-shaped sapphires with three gray brilliant-cut diamonds and two baguette-cut diamonds ($3,190)
A full band of alternating old mine cut baguette diamonds and round rubies set in 18-karat gold ($3,360)
These 18-karat gold hook-and-disc earrings are spotted with multi-colored sapphires ($2,970).
The Rainbow Fade necklace features nine discs accented with rainbow sapphires in 18-karat gold ($7,700).
This 18-karat gold band is rimmed on both edges with rubies ($2,860).
The 18-karat gold Titania ring is centered on an inverse-cast, emerald-cut green sapphire with an unusual blue bloom in the middle, set between two inverse-cast, process-cut peach sapphires, two princess-cut diamonds, and two inverse baguettes ($4,400)
The Swallows Dive necklace features multi-colored sapphire accents set in 18-karat gold ($1,760).
Another pair of 18-karat gold hook-and-disc earrings, this time accented with round rubies ($2,970)
The Confetti ring in 18-karat gold features ruby and diamond accents ($3,960).
This wide ring features a full band of tiny rainbow sapphires set in 18-karat gold ($2,750).
