Design duo Dharmesh and Namrata Kothari launched Syna in 2003. The brand name, which means “together,” comes from the pair’s idea that possibilities in life and design are endless when everyone works in tandem.
Syna debuted its new collection at the recent Couture show, naming it the Kamala collection after the Sanskrit word for “lotus.”
The white lotus depicts purity in Indian mythology and is one of the paramount symbols in Nichiren Buddhism, Dharmesh Kothari told National Jeweler. He said the Kamala collection uses the jewelry pieces to display the magnificence of the flower.
To start, Syna has created pieces with moon quartz, mother-of-pearl, precious gemstones and diamonds in 18-karat yellow gold, although Dharmesh added that the line is currently evolving to include a variety of colors in time for the holiday season.
