Alrosa Finds Two More Large Rough Diamonds
The discovery of a 75-carat rough at Aikhal was followed closely by the recovery of a 110-carat stone at Mirny.

Moscow--Alrosa has added two more large rough diamonds to its list of big diamond finds.
On July 16, a 75-carat rough diamond was recovered at Processing Plant No. 14 of Aikhal Mining and Processing Division.
Two days later, a very large rough diamond weighing almost 110 carats was recovered at Processing Plant No. 3 of Alrosa’s Mirny Mining and Processing Division.
Both are estimated to be gem-quality stones (a more thorough examination of the stones is to come). They are octahedron crystals with small inclusions, one of which has a straw-yellow tint.
Alrosa is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
The company produced 37.4 million carats of rough diamonds in 2016, with revenue increasing 41 percent to $5.5 billion as rough diamond demand increased, though its first quarter 2017 was off to a rougher start.
Revenue fell 17 percent and net profit dropped by more than half during the three-month period.
