Gem Diamonds Digs Up Another 100-Plus Carat Diamond
The 126-carat stone is the latest in a series of large finds in Lesotho for the mining company.

London--Gem Diamonds is continuing its streak of big rough diamond finds at its Letšeng mine in Lesotho.
The mining company announced Thursday it has recovered a 126-carat, D color, type IIa rough at Letšeng, the mine in which it has a 70 percent stake.
The news comes on the tail of other significant diamond finds for Gem Diamonds.
Last month, the mining company found a 104.73-carat, D color, Type IIa diamond and a 151.52-carat type I yellow diamond.
In May the company discovered a 98.42-carat, D color, Type IIa diamond and a 80.58-carat, D color, Type II diamond.
As National Jeweler has previously reported, Gem Diamonds counts on its large diamond finds to turn a profit.
In addition to the Letšeng mine, which it owns in partnership with the government of Kingdom of Lesotho, Gem owns 100 percent of the Ghaghoo mine in Botswana, though operations there are currently inactive.
