Mignon Faget’s Collection Chooses Handmade Over AI
The “Atelier” collection was inspired by the tools, rituals, and objects in an artist’s studio as a quiet rebuttal to an automated world.

“At a moment when images, ideas, and even art can be generated in seconds, Mignon Faget is introducing a collection built on the opposite premise,” said the brand.
As the name implies, the Atelier collection looks to goods that are handmade rather than generated with AI, taking inspiration from the tools, rituals, and quiet objects found in an artist’s studio.
Throughout the 21 designs, there are motifs of buttons, needles, fabric swatches, needle threaders, chatelaines, embroidered textures, and a thimble.
The collection centers everyday objects, because the things we return to often become part of who we are, the brand said, highlighting examples such as a sketchbook filled over the years, a favorite paintbrush worn smooth with use, or a grandmother’s sewing tin, filled with buttons collected over decades.
“One of the most important lessons I learned at the Rhode Island School of Design was that the richness of a completed design comes from the process of creating it. Good design does not exist without exploration, experimentation, mistakes, and discoveries along the way,” said Maghan Oroszi, CEO of Mignon Faget.
“Automating the process detaches us from the very experiences that give creative work its depth, meaning, and humanity. The act of doing is what we become.”
The Atelier collection features handmade sculptural jewelry crafted from sterling silver and 14-karat yellow gold with accents of lapis lazuli, blue sapphire, light blue zircon, and faceted moonstone.
Some designs also use bronze, cord, and stainless steel.
There are a range of styles from lariats, pendants, and beaded necklaces to bangles, rings, earrings, and collar pins.
The collection retails from $65 to $60,000 and first debuted in September before the higher end designs launched on Oct. 9.
Mignon Faget is a New Orleans-based brand that has been creating jewelry inspired by the architecture, native flora, cultural traditions, and everyday objects of the town for more than 55 years.
The brand is also celebrating craftsmanship further by collaborating with fellow makers each rooted in different Louisiana traditions of working by hand.
The series began in the fall and will run into winter with four partnerships, each centering a handmade object designed by a person and not a machine.
Among the series is the collaboration with sock maker Bonfolk on a limited-edition sock collection inspired by the Atelier collection.
Each purchase benefits Dress for Success New Orleans.
The brand also partnered with k.iris Pottery on hand-thrown pottery that are companion pieces to the collection and with Nola Boards on handcrafted wood pieces from local woodworkers inspired by Mignon Faget’s oyster designs.
Its collaboration with Hazeltine Scent Co. features a custom, hand-poured Atelier-inspired candle that will be a holiday exclusive.
The Atelier collection is available in-store and on the Mignon Faget website.
