John Hardy Enters the Medallion Chat With Talisman Collection
The brand’s “Modern Talisman” capsule collection introduces pendants inspired by the mythology, natural world, and spiritual ethos of Bali.

Each of the eight pendants features one of five motifs inspired by the mythology, natural world, and spiritual ethos of Bali as a tribute to the island where the brand was founded in 1975.
There is naga, the Balinese dragon, which represents love and protection while the Bali starling, a critically endangered bird native to the island, serves as a symbol of hope.
The butterfly motif evokes nature and transformation, the lotus is associated with the goddess of wisdom and symbolizes motherhood and fertility, and the seashell symbolizes life cycles and the interconnectedness of the universe.
John Hardy said the pendants are miniature works of art designed to tell a personal story and conceived to be modern heirlooms.
The Modern Talisman collection also embodies the design-driven evolution of the brand with Creative Chairman Reed Krakoff, who joined John Hardy in 2022, at the helm.
“Bali has always been at the heart of John Hardy. With Modern Talisman, we wanted to connect the island’s deep spiritual and mythological traditions to the power of jewelry to carry meaning,” Krakoff said.
The Modern Talisman pieces also draw inspiration from the hand-carved stone wall at the entrance to the John Hardy workshop.
Each pendant is carved on both sides and crafted in sterling silver. The 14-karat yellow gold elements are separately cast, and diamonds are added as accents.
All five motifs are available in the small-sized pendants and the starling, naga, and lotus motifs also come in a larger size. These larger versions have spring-loaded hinged bails.
The brand said this feature was added to allow wearers to put the medallion on different chains or satin cord necklaces for a more casual look “emblematic of Bali beach and surf culture.”
The Modern Talisman collection retails from $650 to $2,800.
It launched on Oct. 5 and is available through select wholesale outlets as well as on the John Hardy website.
