Graff’s New Butterfly High Jewelry Brooches Metamorphosize

The 12-piece capsule collection transforms from brooches to pendants.

London—Graff has debuted its latest high jewelry capsule collection featuring one of its iconic motifs, the butterfly.

The collection centers 12 unisex pieces inspired by art, architecture, and design details from Graff’s archive reimaged through a contemporary lens.

The butterfly was chosen for its connection to the storied brand. Graff first designed its butterfly motif in 1975 and has continued to feature it in designs, recognizing its symbolism of evolution through metamorphosis and representation of the power of transformation.

Graff Design Director Anne-Eva Geffroy said, “For me, there is something deeply poetic about the form of a butterfly. Fluttering through the natural world, it is an elusive creature—a fleeting beauty that is here and then gone.

“At Graff, we work to capture and preserve that delicacy within every jewelry piece, allowing it to remain light and ephemeral while at the same time exploring new directions and experimenting with materials, color combinations, and refinements. As a result, the Graff butterfly continues to evolve, with new and ever more compelling interpretations emerging.”

These high jewelry brooches are formatted as fine jabot pins, a traditional fastening from the 17th century.

The butterflies were designed to move en tremblant, allowing the wings to flutter as its wearer moves.

At the tip of each jabot pin is either a single butterfly, ornate emblem, or a jewel to extend the creative narrative and reinforce the piece’s versatility, said Graff.

“From the moment we started working on this collection of high jewelry brooches, our intention was for each one to feel like an enchanting revelation from an exquisite treasure box,” added Geffroy.

The “Tamara” brooch features angular lines created through emeralds alongside baguette-and round-cut diamonds radiating from a marquise-cut emerald to evoke Art Deco era sunburst motifs.

While taking the form of a butterfly, the “Freya” brooch draws inspiration from an archival dragonfly brooch.

It uses fancy-cut and pear-shaped yellow diamonds that extend across the wings.

The “Freya” brooch features yellow and white diamonds in white gold.

Meanwhile, a second butterfly adorned with diamond pavé and centered by a pear-shaped yellow diamond sits at the tip of the jabot pin.

Graff Eva Brooch
The “Eva” brooch uses sapphires, emeralds, Paraíba tourmalines, and diamonds in white gold.

The “Eva” brooch looks to Claude Monet’s paintings of gardens as it showcases an arched gradient of sapphires, emeralds, Paraíba tourmalines, and diamonds.

This piece also introduces additional movement via a scattering of miniature butterflies over the central motif.

Again, a petite version of this design is placed on the tip of the jabot pin.

Graff Lina Brooch
The white gold “Lina” brooch showcases invisibly-set pink sapphires accented by diamonds.

For the “Lina” brooch, Graff dove into its archives and was influenced by architectural patterns.

This butterfly has a voluminous shape that is defined by intensely hued, square-cut pink sapphires that are invisibly set and anchored by round diamonds.

At the tip of the jabot pin is a petite marquise-cut pink sapphire and diamond pavé butterfly.

Alongside the launch of the capsule collection, artist Rose Pilkington partnered with Graff to create 12 digital artworks inspired by the brooches as part of a digital art gallery experience.
