Man Charged in Murders of Father, Son Jewelers in Chicago
Chicago police and members of the U.S. Marshals Service tracked down the 35-year-old suspect earlier this week in St. Louis.

The Chicago Police Department announced via a press release that CPD officers and members of the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 35-year-old Muhammad Thomas on Tuesday in St. Louis.
He has been extradited to Chicago and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the Nov. 8 shooting deaths of 63-year-old Faustino Alamo Dominguez and his son, Luis Angel Alamo, 26.
The pair were working at their family’s jewelry store, Joyeria Angelo’s, in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood when Thomas—outfitted in a Chicago Blackhawks jersey—allegedly entered the store just before 6 p.m. and robbed them at gunpoint.
As surveillance video from a local business shows, the suspect ran out of the store and Dominguez and Alamo followed.
When they reached the end of the block, Thomas allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Dominguez and Alamo, both of whom died a short time later at a local hospital.
The suspect then fled the scene in a white Maserati SUV.
Shortly after the murders, numerous organizations, including the Jewelers’ Security Alliance, offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for killing Dominguez and Alamo.
They were the only two members of the jewelry industry killed while on the job in 2025, down from four industry deaths in 2024, JSA Executive Vice President Scott Guginsky said Friday.
“Two jewelers killed is too many in one year, even though its half of what it was the year before,” he said.
On Nov. 14, CPD said it was looking for two suspects in the case.
JSA said Friday that it could not comment on the reward or the search for suspect No. 2.
CPD said no additional information is available at this time.
In addition to two counts of first-degree murder, Thomas faces numerous other felony charges according to CPD, including in a June 2023 shooting that left a 26-year-old man seriously injured and for his alleged involvement in a July 2024 armed robbery in the city.
He was expected to appear in court on Friday for a detention hearing.
