Piece of the Week: Alina Abegg’s ‘Stuck on You’ Earrings
They’re the upscale version of those fun stickers worn in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
It’s been said millennials tend to be more nostalgic for the things they loved as kids than previous generations.
But who doesn’t like reliving the things that gave us so much joy?
Maybe I’m just a stereotypical member of my generation, but it didn’t stop me from instantly falling for Berlin designer Alina Abegg’s new collection, “Stuck on You.”
Inspired by those glorious stick-on earrings from the ‘80s and ‘90s we all used to love, the collection features hearts, circles, and crescent moon-shaped jewels that are not only instantly recognizable but will almost certainly put a smile on anyone’s face who used to don the sticky versions in their youth.
“I vividly remembered myself playing dress-up with my friends, singing ‘Baby One More Time’ into a hairbrush, with a million stick-on earrings all over us,” Abegg said in a release about the collection.
“I wanted to capture that exact moment with this collection and create something that would just make people feel good.”
And, as if the collection of earrings, rings, necklaces, and pendants—set in gold with enamel or stones like chalcedony, chrysoprase, and amethyst—isn’t awesome enough, the earrings also come with special limited-edition packaging that includes real stick-on earrings.
The pieces range from $385 to $3,000, with the pictured “Piece of the Week” earrings, featuring enamel and 14-karat gold, priced at $715.
