From Basel: 4 New Watches from TAG Heuer

Basel--At Baselworld 2018, TAG Heuer released a number of new models in the Carrera line, which turns 55 this year.
The Carrera collection was introduced in 1963 as a motorsports-focused line named after the famous Mexican Carrera Panamericana road race.
Among the Carrera introductions at the show was the Calibre 16 Chronograph, a 41 mm vintage-inspired model with a ceramic bezel that comes in black-on-black—black dial with a black leather strap—as well as with a blue dial on a steel bracelet.
Both versions have touches of red as a nod to the line’s motorsports roots.
The Calibre 16 Chronograph is priced at $4,350 for the strap version and $4,500 for the bracelet version.

Aimed to interest younger consumers, the Carrera Chronograph GMT is powered by the Heuer 02 and marks the first time TAG has added a GMT to its in-house movement.
It is a 45 mm watch with the 3-6-9 counter layout as seen in the original Carrrera models—the chronograph minutes and hours are at 3 and 9 o’clock, and the small second is at 6 o’clock.

TAG Heuer announced a partnership with Bamford Watch Department last year, a London-based company that does custom design for luxury companies. Past clients include Bentley and Zenith, another LVMH-owned watch brand.
For TAG, Bamford gave a custom facelift to the Monaco to create the Monaco Bamford, a 39 mm watch with a carbon case and aqua blue accents on the dial that are luminous. It is powered by the caliber 11 automatic movement.
The watch is available in TAG Heuer boutiques and on select websites only (price TBD).

The Carrera “Tête de Vipère” Chronograph Tourbillon Chronometer is the first TAG chronograph to receive the Besançon Observatory’s “Tête de Vipère” (which translates to viper’s head) metrological stamp of excellence.
The 45 mm watch is powered by the Heuer-02T caliber, an automatic movement that combines a “viper’s head,” Besançon Observatory-certified tourbillon with a chronograph.
